♡ How to Succeed in Online Schooling ♡
Hello my little Quiches! If you are reading this, then this means that I have my first followers, and I wanted to thank you for taking the time to check out my blog! It's brand new and I'm still learning the twists and turns of it all.
Today I will be talking about how to succeed in online schooling. This is my third year at college and my third year of taking classes online. Now, if you're like me and you do better independently, like to take the extra time to teach your self, and hate going to an actual campus, online school might be for you! Online school is very similar to an actual on campus class. I'm not entirely sure how other schools are compared to mine in this aspect, but let me tell you a little about how it works. Some teachers like to do things differently just like a regular classroom. Usually there are weekly modules with readings, videos, tests, quizzes, that you need to complete for that homework period, and the nice thing is is that due dates hardly ever change! I love this because it allows me to work ahead if I need to. The stress of missing class is no longer an issue! Also, because you have all of the materials in each module, you can easily go back and reference for quizzes and tests, which is awesome if you have stress anxiety like I do. If you are thinking about doing online classes, I would suggest taking it slow. Don't bombard yourself with 6 online classes because it could turn out that you won't even like it. I have seen this in so many cases so please make sure to take it slow and steady!
Here are a couple (optional) tips on how to be successful!
1. PLEASE read your syllabus as soon as it become available! I can not stress this enough! Some online teachers like to hide important information in there, and trust me you do not want to find out later in the semester you've been losing points for something silly! Another important reason to read your syllabus is because it has all of the textbook information you could ever need. Never trust your school bookstores list for books for specific classes, because usually they are never accurate. ALWAYS wait and go by what your teacher says in the syllabus! Or if you really want to get ahead, email your teacher because school starts and have them give you the information.
2. When looking for textbooks DO NOT settle for the first ones you find. Always browse the inter webs for better deals! This will save you SO SO SO much money in the long run. My favorite place to buy/rent textbooks from is www.chegg.com I have found that they have the best prices. Plus, they send you Red-bulls, Tide Pods, and tons of coupons! What college student doesn't need those things? (Also I am not sponsored, I just really feel some type of way about Chegg)
3. Make sure you have a decent computer and good internet connection! There is nothing more frustrating than taking a test and all of a sudden your internet stops working. Once you start a test...there is not going back! If you don't have either of those things, check your local library and see if they have computers available for use! (And if you're like me sticker bomb or decorate your computer/laptop so that way you're more motivated to pick it up and do your homework!. These stickers are from www.amazon.com)
4. Invest in a cute planner! I'm not sure about you guys, but when I have a cute planner I can't resist picking it up and flipping through it. This will keep you more inclined to write your homework assignments down (especially if you are talking multiple classes online. Things can get kind of confusing!). I also like to write down my daily goals and decorate the pages on Sunday for the upcoming week! I personally love the planners from Target's Sugar Paper collection. (I mean look how cute!) www.target.com
4. Along with a cute planner....invest in some cute office supplies as well! These are not necessary by any means, but I get so excited when back to school time rolls around and it's a gold mine for school supplies. Especially at Target. Oh my goodness. Just like having a cute planner will make you keep up to date on your assignments, cute office supplies will almost make you want to do homework! I usually end up getting everything from target. I believe I got this tape dispenser, and pen/pencil holder at Office Depot. They have some pretty cute stuff too!
5. Don't forget to try and enjoy your online class experience! Just remember that taking online classes is better than having to go to school everyday. Seriously...that's how I get through it!
Thank you all so much for reading and I wish you many good grades and lots of motivation for this school year!
Much Love,
Elise
